Modern Farmhouse Mudroom Reveal

As Featured on Apartment Therapy

As seen on...

I'm so thrilled to share phase one of our mudroom with you all! (I'll get into why this is phase one below.) Anyway, I've noticed in the nearly 9 months that we have lived here that almost everyone who visits comes through the mudroom (and of course our family is in and out of this space all day) so I really wanted to get the look of the room exactly how I had pictured.

Simple, Rustic Potting Bench

This is a Sponsored Post

I almost hate to share this, because someone obviously worked on this piece before me. But, I pretty much share every project I do, and I thought this one should be no exception.

I just want to state for the record that less is more. Always.

Darrell scoped this table out at an antique store over the weekend and thought I could give it a makeover/under, however you want to look at it.

5 Tips for How to Give New Furniture Vintage Charm Using Paint

I have long loved vintage and antique furniture. The more the age and story it tells the better. But, sometimes you find a piece that completely fits what you are looking for size and style wise and is right there in your budget, but it's newer.

It's possible to use these pieces while still giving your space a vintage, country feel.

The Best Dark Kitchen Cabinets & an Announcement

So, we're unexpectedly redoing the kitchen. I got a little kick in the pants earlier this week when I found out I was one of the bloggers chosen by Americana Décor to test out their satin enamel paints.

Painted & Stained Square Coffee Table

Sometimes when we are out hunting for pieces I find something that looks pretty hideous, but am completely drawn to. These aren't pieces that we have been asked to find by clients or pieces that I went out in search of with a specific idea in mind.

These are just things I stumble upon and an idea hits me for them at first glance.  It's like I can completely picture the piece refinished and gorgeous. Which is an awesome thing, because typically I will ponder and contemplate and question the colors I choose.

This coffee table was one of those pieces that jumped out at me and I knew it immediately had to come back to the workshop.

Nantucket Green End Table

I always love adding green paint to my supplies list.

It has such an earthy quality and reminds me of warmer weather and growth.

The Best Rustic Modern Mudrooms

We are like so close to finishing up phase one of our mudroom reno. Literally just a couple of more projects and a little styling and we can check it off our list.

I was just on Pinterest looking around for some final bits of inspiration and thought I would share some of my favorites with you all.

Pale Mint Vintage Dresser with Milk Glass Pulls

This is a Sponsored Post

I'm so seriously in love with this dresser. It's probably why it hasn't sold. Fate works that way when you love old furniture and paint it for a living.

How to Install an Antique Mantel

At our old house we had a mantel that was disproportionally too large and off center for the space and it was impossible to style properly. When we bought our old farmhouse last fall, it had no fireplace or mantel and I was (not so secretly) happy about that. The idea of not having to deal with a gigantic mantel seemed pretty awesome. And it was, but then I got to thinking that I actually kind of missed having one and it would be perfect in our dining room (the living room is just too small).

DIY Antique Coffee Table

I've had the idea to make an antique coffee table from this old table we picked up months ago and just finally got the chance to attack it last week.

The Best in Modern Americana Decor

I recently added some Americana décor to our home. I was determined to get my flag wrapped wreath on the front door before Memorial Day and, after removing the storm door, painting the original wood door and trim and buying a door mat, I succeeded. Have I mentioned that there is not one surface in this house that doesn't need to be cleaned/painted/renovated? It's very trying because I always want things done NOW, and that just is not how this house is playing out for me. Anyway, if you'd like to see the door/wreath makeover I just mentioned, head over to my Instagram account, here.

I always love how American flags look displayed in homes, especially in the summer months. I'm going to add buy an old, tattered flag with history to my Brimfield list. I think one would be so beautiful in our home.

Navy & White Vintage China Cabinet

I have been really, really loving navy lately. In our home reno I am painting all the interiors door a super dark charcoal that reads primarily as an almost black navy (if that makes any sense). Completely a happy accident.

This last week I fought through working in our workshop in a seriously crazy pollen filled haze. (I can't imagine what still needs to bloom out there, but it's something and it's very slowly killing me.)

The Prettiest Outdoor Rugs this Summer

I've spent the last several days scouring the internet (whenever I had a few moments) looking for the perfect outdoor rug. I eventually envision getting a couple; one for our large front porch (once it is thoroughly cleaned and painted), and the other for our mudroom, which is nearly completion.
