Inspired by Macy's: Gifts for the Baker

 This is a sponsored post.

Hey everyone! This is the last in a series of posts sharing some of my fave gift ideas from Macy's! (You can read the other two posts here and here.)

When I was approached to share these gift ideas it was a natural to pick gifts for the baker. Baking just totally screams the holidays. From cookies to Christmas morning breakfasts baking is just a part of the tradition.

Gifts for the baker

I am completely loving the copper egg white beating bowl (copper is so popular right now)!!!

Inspired by Macy's: Kitchen Essentials

This is a sponsored post.

Hello friends! I'm sharing another fab style guide from Macy's with you all today and I am extra excited about this one!

As much as I love DIY and decorating, my first passion as always been cooking. It's something I got from my Dad and spent tons of time in the kitchen with him and watching cooking shows when I was growing up.

It carried over into adulthood, and, here's a little secret for you all....my boys, who will be 13 and 11 in a couple of weeks, have never called me any form of mom. Nope. They call me Coka. It's something my firstborn came up with right around the time he turned two. He was trying to say Cooker because apparently I cooked a lot!

Wouldn't any of the above gifts be perfect to bring to a holiday party this year?

I'm particularly loving the wood grain on that cutting board. And also the skillet grill. The bold color is so super fun!

Stenciled Tilt Top Table & Holiday House Walk Day 4!

I almost made it through another week and I seriously could not be happier! Soon I will share some updates that have been going on in my home in preparation to put it on the market (think horrific dealings with a contractor), but today I just want to share this adorable table I recently finished.

2014 House Walk Tour

Welcome everyone to part one of my Holiday Home Tour! (Part two will be shared next Monday, so be sure to stop back then to check out more areas of my Christmas home).
Before we get started I just have to give a huge thank you to Jen Rizzo for including me in this amazing series. I've been contributing at her blog monthly for the last year and this is just the icing on the cake!
Also, if you are stopping over from Ella Claire an extra special welcome to you!

Each year, I try to change up my décor for the holiday season.  This year I focused on lots of metallics, sparkles, natural elements and green accents.

Fave Winter Boots & Holiday House Walk Day 2

Having a mom who is a blogger is totally a weird experience around the holidays.  Last week, my almost teen jokingly asked me if it was Thanksgiving or Christmas. I love autumn and Thanksgiving so much, but it kind of takes a back seat since I need to have Christmas already set by the end of November. This Turkey Day was especially Christmas-like since we had our first snow fall of the year!

And chilly weather and snow completely means pulling out all my warm boots.

Using Nature in Christmas Decor (& Holiday House Walk)

Hey friends! I love, love, love adding natural elements to my home décor, especially during the holiday season.

I thought I would share a few of my favorite pics that I have come across while editing for some upcoming home tours with you all.  They all highlight fresh pine and pieces of wood.

Some pine clippings tied with a velvet ribbon that coordinates with my homes accent color...

Holiday Ready House with Libman

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.
Full disclosure: my house is a complete disaster at the moment. I have a cat who sheds despite the freezing weather, two almost teen boys and a kitchen reno underway. Literally, there is not a day where my home is sparkling and presentable. It's dusty, messy and in need of a constant cleaning.

Christmas Decorating with Balsam Hill

Hey everyone! This is traditionally a bit early for me to start chatting about Christmas, but I am taking part in some truly fantastic home tours and collaborations this season and so I could not wait to get a jump on it.

I was super fortunate to be gifted some wonderful holiday décor from Balsam Hill, and, I have to say, I am truly in love with the quality!

The first thing I picked was a gorgeous and realistic looking lighted, potted tree.

Modern Acorn Garland

Forgive my complete lateness in posting today, everyone!

I have just a ridiculous amount on my plate right now with a kitchen reno that needs to be completed quickly and finalizing plans to sell my home. (Yup, that's right. Number Fifty-Three will be on the move soon and I am so excited to start this next chapter in my life!)

Anyway, I had one final autumn post that I wanted to share with you all before I go all Christmas on you (which will begin tomorrow, btw).

I love using natural elements in my decor, but sometimes that can get a bit rustic. This garland is made of the tops of acorns, but has a totally modern vibe.

Primitive Autumn Home Tour

Morning everyone! I've been swamped with deadlines, both blog and custom painting orders, which tends to get a tad overwhelming, but I have to say, I made some amazing headway this past weekend which, is starting, to put my mind at ease.

One thing I checked off my list was to photograph my Mom's primitive autumn home. Her home tours are always a huge hit here and this year is especially pretty and inventive.

Blogger Stylin' Home Tours: Thanksgiving Table

You know what two things I completely love?

Autumn (and yes, I realize I've told you all this like a million times already, just go with it) and participating in the Blogger Stylin' Home Tour series.

The talent is seriously insanely inspiring!

Contributor Post & Thanksgiving Dining Room Sneak Peek

Hey everyone! I have lots of good things happening this week!

First of all, today you can see my November contributor post over at Jennifer Rizzo Design Company.

This is one of my most favorite projects to date, so I hope you will stop on over to check out all the details and to leave me a comment!

Late Autumn Mantel

Alright. I have no explanation for my lack of blogging last week. Except that I had a lot on my plate. And a sinus infection and the very thought of getting something camera worthy to share overwhelmed me. But, luckily, this weekend, I was on fire completing projects left and right (with the help of massive amounts of coffee). Which, is good because I have a ton due this week and a ton to share with you all.

One thing I did was change up my mantel for late autumn. With Halloween now past, I was tired of looking at the black candles and bat garland and wanted to go with something more earthy and natural.

Shabby Painted Dresser

Hey there friends!

Here's round two of custom orders I finished up this weekend! (You can see the pretty peacock sideboard I shared yesterday, here.)

This one is a lovely, shabby dresser in pale gray and white, with a stained top.  Dressers are some of my favorite pieces to work on.

Vintage Two-Toned Sideboard

You know what? I feel like it has been absolutely forever since I have shared a piece of furniture with you all. And, it sort of has been. Which, is completely unusual for me.

This past weekend, I got back into the painting groove and finished a few custom orders. One being this lovely, vintage, two-toned sideboard.

Repurposed Drawer Underbed Storage

Hey everyone!

I've been doing lots of planning (and a little bit of work) on Gennaro's bedroom makeover as part of the Fall in Love Series I'm taking part in. (You can see my original post here).

Gennaro has the smallest bedroom in our home (totally what happens when you are the youngest, right?) and is in constant need of storage.

One of the untapped storage possibilities in his room is under his bed. I wanted to do something homemade and a bit industrial feeling so I repurposed two drawers from a vintage dresser that I picked up.

Easy Dyed Pillow Cover

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing a project that I originally blogged about at Jennifer Rizzo Design Company.

I'm kind of in love with the whole popularity of tie dye in home décor. Additionally, my boys and I have been a bit obsessed with the artist Jackson Pollack for a few years now. I love both because they are just such free expressions of art and I wanted to incorporate this into our home in an unusual way.

Things I'm Loving This Week: Benches

TGIF!

So excited for this weekend. So excited this week is over. The last few days have been a challenge and they need to go. Ever have a week like that? Let me just say this...kids are tough to parent. Yeah. I'm done.

But, on a lighter note, want to know what one of my favorite pieces of furniture of all time is?

It's the bench. They are truly so versatile and there are so many options.

Stenciled Arrow Pillows (Paint A Pillow Review)

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

You know what? I constantly face my fears. Totally not kidding. There are two things that really scare me in the DIY world...staining and stenciling. (I have tons of other fears, too, like insects. I will run like a screaming child if one flies at me; totally not relevant but true.)

Favorite Fall Outfits...

Hey friends. Thank you so much for you amazing and positive comments regarding yesterday's post. You all are the best. Seriously.

Now that the weather has a definite chill, I have been searching the web for some cool autumn outfit inspirations.

My Journey & More of My Autumn Home

Once upon a time I blogged nearly every single day, was on top of my custom order pieces, had major decorating plans and commented on all my fave blogs. Remember that girl? Well. She totally lost her way this summer and got distracted by life, which has been a bit sad and seriously awesome all rolled into one.

If you've read Number Fifty-Three for any length of time then you know I'm not big on sharing personal info. I have really nothing against it and love blogs that do. The thing that nobody really knew was that for, like years, I have been pretty miserable and sad. And that made it hard to share.

Things I'm Loving This Week: Casual Fall Outifts

Seriously, how long has it been since I've done a Things I'm Loving This Week post? Like months way too long. That's how long. And I promise an explanation for my weird and sporadic blogging over the last few months. I promise. Like maybe even next week.  Because even though I don't share tons of personal stuff here...for real, my life has completely been flipped upside down and is just in a crazy new place that you all should know a little bit more about.

Blogger Stylin' Home Tour: Fall Edition

Welcome everyone! I am super excited that you all are here because autumn is my absolute favorite time of year!  I love the change in the seasons and the crisp air and colorful leaves.

This year at Number Fifty-Three, I decided to go in a different direction for my fall décor and stick to a color palette of white, black and metallic.

Fall In Love Series...Week One

Hey everyone! Forgive my lateness in getting this out this morning. My lovely guys have given me whatever makes-you-want-to-curl-up-in-ball-with-a-box-of-tissues illness they had last week.  Love how even though my boys are homeschooled we still go through the usual fall sicknesses every year.

But, I have something super exciting to share with you all today. My good buddy, Cassie from Primitive & Proper has organized this awesome series where we will be updating a room in our home over the next six weeks. How's that for motivation to get something accomplished!

Peacock and Espresso Dining Table & Dealing with A Staining Disaster

OK guys. I'm going to share with you a super, super tough custom order I recently finished and why it is always important to have a back up plan because sometimes painting furniture can seriously throw you a curveball. (P.S. This is also applicable for everyday life...always have a Plan B. Always.)

Chalkboard Painted Books & Autumn Coffee Table

Morning everyone!  All I have to say is thank goodness it is starting to feel like fall around here in New England. It makes the whole, "let's decorate with pumpkins and gourds" so much more festive.

I'm getting my home already for an upcoming fall tour and I thought I would give you all a little glimpse at what I have been up to.

I started this weekend with my coffee table. And yes, this is totally a different coffee table than I had a month ago. What can I say? I paint and sell furniture. I keep my favorites.

How to Display Collections in Your Home

Hey there, friends!

It's no secret that I have several collections in my home.  It's sort of a love/hate kind of thing. While I love the items, I hate clutter. And there is a definite fine line between displaying the things you love and all out complete chaos and mess.

I thought today I would share some of my favorite collections with you all and show you how I have managed to add them to my home without being overwhelmed.

Book Page Leaf Branch & Contributor Post

Happy Friday! Since it is September and we are officially back to school I thought I would put together a quick and easy fall craft. Although, I have to say, 90 degrees and humid does not make me feel super autumny.

This project is fast, easy and inexpensive.  All you need is an old book, a leaf template (just Google "oak leaf" search images, and print on cardstock) pencil, scissors, hot glue, twine and a wispy branch (mine is a forsythia).

Late Summer Arrangement & Vintage Maya Table Cloth

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Can you all believe that summer is practically over? It seriously flew by for us. We took some great trips to the beach (our favorite place ever) and I made some major decisions that will completely change our lives in the months to come. Also, we'll be starting back homeschooling later on this week, which is always exciting and challenging.

Today I thought I would share with you all a wonderful no cost floral arrangement I created from past-their-prime blooms from my yard and also share the most gorgeous table cloth that was gifted to me by Vintage Maya.

(And, yes, I know. Cat on the table. On the table cloth. I only let him get away with it because he is so cute and likes to be in pictures...)

Blogger Stylin' Home Tour: Favorite Room

Welcome everyone! I am so thrilled to be taking part in Blogger Stylin' Home Tours again and I especially love the idea of seeing so many favorite rooms.

If you're coming over from Jen Rizzo then you have definitely seen a fantastic space. I always find so much inspiration in Jen's home.

The room that I finally decided on for this tour is our entry. It is more than just the welcoming center of our home it is also where some of my very favorite pieces of furniture and accessories are. Since it is a wide, open space it also serves as my office.

Unique Shabby Painted Desk

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hey friends!

Sorry for my sudden silence here at Number Fifty-Three. This has been an interesting summer and the last couple of weeks have been filled with reflection and a plan to move forward as I embark on some pretty major life changes for me and my boys.

Along with the lack of blogging I also have let my furniture painting slow down. It felt so good to get back at it these last few days and I am so excited to share this awesome desk with you all!

Boho MCM Blue Dresser

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every once in a while I finish a piece of furniture that makes me stop in my tracks and say, "I think that is insanely awesome. I think I should totally redo my house in a completely different style."

Yes. This is one of those times. I'm fighting the urge to completely update my home in a boho, eclectic vibe because of this fab, bold dresser.

Two-Toned Occasional Table

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is totally and completely a piece of furniture that I want to keep for our own home. If, I had the room, but I am sadly maxed out. So, is the life of a furniture painter, right? This, is also why, I typically try to use accent colors that would never go in my home. No lie. It is seriously easy to get attached to certain pieces!

Classic Black & Gold Coffee Table

Yesterday we were hit with some pretty wild weather up here in the northeast and today looks like more of the same. Honestly, though I love those thunder storms that happen only in the summer!  I spent a good part of yesterday painting some smaller pieces that I could bring into the house in between storms. I'll share at least one of those later this week, but today I have this classic coffee table to show you all.
