Things I'm Loving This Week...

Oh my gosh! I think it has been forever since I have done this weekly featured post. Now that summer is winding down it is definitely time for me to be more focused and disciplined with my blog writing!

Have a great weekend! I think I will be painting some walls in our home! And, finishing up a lot of projects. Stay tuned!

Marble Topped Table

Since I'm all in "let's organize/purge/finish projects" mode here this week I have done very little in terms of painting custom pieces or pieces from my furniture stash to sell.

Like, literally, this table is the only thing I have completed.

[Project Notebook] Home Organization

If there is one thing (well, there are actually a lot of things, but this is definitely towards the top) that makes me anxious is clutter.

And, it is a constant battle in this house. I am always rearranging or working on a project for my blog. Or, bringing in more furniture to paint. Or, homeschooling. Or, trying to tame the mess my children make, which is not easy when the have ADHD and autism and cannot focus and find the need to collect everything.

I find it is easier to manage and keep my house clean if everything has its own place and you purge frequently (not something my boys like to do, but it happens).  This week has been one of those reorganizing/purging weeks for us. Next week probably will, too, as I really need the house in order before we start back at school.

Here are some images that inspire me to getting moving around here. How often do you do a big purge in your home?

Pinterest Love...

The weather has been crummy here so far this week which has been just fantastic for my plan of finishing up projects around here and doing a major decluttering.  I really, really dislike clutter and my basement is a disaster and both of my sons' rooms are equally as bad. There will be lots of donations and additions to our tag sale pile when I get through!

On to prettier things, like my fav pins of the week! You can always follow me here to see everything I am pinning.

Vintage Coral Dresser

 Hi all!

Just on really quick (busy, busy day finishing up a bunch of projects around my house and getting the boys new glasses) to share a custom painted dresser I recently finished.

My customer wanted a long and low dresser (to also double as a changing table), painted in a true coral and minimally distressed.

Two-Toned Antique Dresser

Yesterday, I had another sale of my painted furniture and vintage finds at my house and, I think it went really, really well!  One thing that should have been for sale on Saturday was this gorgeous antique dresser, but...I just could not part with it.

Painted Upper Cabinets

Hi everyone!

I am by no means done with my kitchen updates, but since it has been since forever since I posted my ideas about what I wanted to do I thought I would share my progress...it has been slow, at best!

Vintage Desk & Milk Glass Knobs

Hi everyone!

Every once in a while I really hit it big at the thrift store and find some amazing things. Last week I had one of those shopping experiences. In fact, I had to actually make two trips home I got so many great pieces of furniture. The only bad thing in the entire trip was that pretty much the moment the guys and I tried to load the furniture in my SUV it started pouring. And, I'm talking about in a matter of a minute or two I was completely drenched head to toe.

One of the things I bought that day was this amazing, vintage desk.

Vintage Gossip Bench

Happy Sunday! We're off to another gelato/movie afternoon with the boys today! They completely deserve it because I have been working like crazy this week on both custom pieces and pieces for my sale so they have not had a lot of fun.

This lovely gossip bench is one of the things that I finished this week and I love it! It is custom for a friend of mine who recently moved into an amazing new home. She is not afraid of color or mixing patterns so we have been having a blast coming up with ideas for her entire space.

Vintage Conant Ball Bookcase

Everyone, this is one of those pieces of furniture that is just amazing. Solid, fantastic construction that I literally picked it up for nothing while my husband and I were out looking for tag sales a couple of weekends ago. Seriously, I got such a great deal he didn't even believe me that it was actually wood at first.

[Project Notebook] Wallpaper

Lately, I have been really coveting rooms that have wallpaper. They seem to be gaining popularity again, design-wise, and not in that wallpaper-plus-border look of the 1980s that, in hindsight, was a bit over the top.

And, I know this could totally be a DIY project, but in reality I will most likely save my pennies and hire a professional because I would be in a complete panic over getting everything lined up properly and without visible seams.

I would love it to be a neutral print (probably focusing on the gray/white/black color palette).

Also, I'm thinking just an accent wall will suffice. My current thinking is the wall behind the bed in our master bedroom (we recently got a new mattress and have been tweaking that room) or the wall in our entry where the gold settee is.

Here are some patterns that I currently love (and this post is just really me thinking out loud because I am nowhere near ready to tackle this project yet!) But, I think #4 is my fav!

Pinterest Love...

Morning everyone! I'm going to keep plugging away with my day and just try to convince myself I am not getting sick! We've got an orthodontist appointment, grocery shopping and painting on tap that needs to be accomplished.

Anyway, here are some of my fav pins from the last week (or two). And, you can always follow me here so see everything I'm pinning.

Have a great day!

Chippy, Grungy, White Dresser

I feel seriously horrible and all kinds of out of sorts. It's been more than a week since I did a blog post. Last week just completely got away from me.  First, I accompanied my youngest to camp for the week. It is always iffy with him in terms of his tolerance and patience level, but he did completely awesome. A couple of moments on the first day, but other than that, just great! And, now he has his very own website set up with all of his favorite things!

Then, we took both boys to Boston to see a retinal surgeon (just in case) he is needed for their vision issues. It was the longest day in history, with a long stream of residents coming into check their eyes (their condition is so rare that most doctors will never actually see it) and an insane drive home. I have never seen traffic move so slow; and it wasn't just in the city, it continued on all the way back to western Massachusetts.

Saturday, my oldest and I went to Albany to visit a friend and had a blast!  It was another long day, but so, so worth it and, finally, Sunday I worked on painting this dresser.

New Home Decor Additions

Oh my gosh, I cannot even believe how early I am up and ready to go today. My youngest starts website design camp (and he actually gets to create his own site by the end of week). He is so excited to go, but, he has autism and his patience level is pretty darn low so I get to hang out with him there for the next four mornings to make sure he stays on track. The things I do for him. I am so not a morning person, our weekend was crazy busy and so is this entire week and next weekend. So tired.

But, before I head out I thought I would share with you some recent purchases I've made for our home. Some from regular stores and one from thrift, but all things that I absolutely love and are reflective of our home and our style.

First, this awesome print from IKEA. It is huge, but I think it balances this wall off nicely since there was nothing on this entire wing (if you can consider this like four foot section that juts out of our hall as a wing, which I like to do sometimes) of our upstairs hallway. I love it as I have a lot of green pottery displayed and the hutch and it holds some of our science books.

Decorating Imperfectly/Wabi-Sabi

You all know that two of my fav things ever are Pinterest (you can find me pinning here) and hunting for vintage and antique finds.  That's why, a few weeks ago, when I stumbled across a pin that was entitled, Embracing Wabi-Sabi (here) I was intrigued.
